Facekinis
If 2020 is anything to go by, most people have become accustomed to wearing masks as part of their daily ensembles. We’ve seen some pretty bold choices but the ones worn by this duo take the win. If anything, they get points for matching the face coverings with their swimsuits.
According to a Daily Mail article, these two ladies have introduced us to the concept of "facekinis." The full-face Lycra masks caught up quickly in China around 2012, and they weren’t designed as an attempt to conceal the identity’s identity. Instead, they aim to protect the wearer’s face from the harsh effects of the sun’s rays.
Monkey Palooza
If you are a huge fan of the “Jurassic Park” movies this sight must send shivers down your spine. It’s reminiscent of the chilling opening scene from the second installment when the little girl started feeding a bunch of adorable-looking tiny dinosaurs. The extinct creatures soon turned on her culminating in a shrilling scream.
Perhaps it’s better to keep it on the cutesy side and just leave it at a bunch of monkeys jonesing for some bananas. But then again, “Planet of the Apes” ruined it for us, and we can’t shake off the thought that this photo captured the calm before the storm.
Captain Woof
Everyone loves the idea of spending a day at the beach, including Fido! Now if there is something this picture tells us is that the refreshing backdrop creates the perfect backdrop for a photo op. Call him Captain Woof and let him guide you to a fun-filled adventure that involves sun, sand, and beach!
For canines, the beach opens up a can of intoxicating smells and stretches of open space to explore. Go armed with treats to entice your four-legged friend back to you. To be on the safe side, it’s also a good idea to keep your dog leashed if they are not used to the sand-filled territory.
Human Surfboard
Have you been to the beach of late? It looks like there are plenty of amazing things going on there. Take a look at this image. It is an impressive shot you can look at for hours trying to figure out how the lads pulled off this look.
We can’t help but wonder how long it took the guys to capture the shot. Because they are not out in the waters, they may be sandboarding enthusiasts. Also known as sand surfing, it is an extreme sport that individuals engage in when looking for adrenaline done prevalently in coastal areas and deserts that have dunes.
Record-breaking Bikini Parade
People will go to great lengths to break world records. A classic example is this lineup of beautiful ladies all clad in bikinis. The Gold Coast Bulletin opted to attract global attention to its beach by showcasing the longest international bikini parade. It was a huge success as 357 ladies showed up in swimsuits.
Media attention to the parade was massive. This led Panama City to outshine the record-holders with 450 women. The competition became stiffer when more than 1000 ladies in Huludao City, Liaoning China, marched a mile in two pieces. Keep your eyes peeled since they are organizing an event that may make them reclaim the record.
Well, This Was A Bad Idea
Burying oneself in the sand is one of the most popular traditions at the beach. People do this to get fabulous photos or as a way of cooling off from the hot sun rays. The lady above, however, looks like they are in trouble and need help immediately.
She must have buried her body near a water line, and the waves are crashing dangerously close to her. She also appears to be sleeping and has no idea what is happening around her. Revelers are often reminded that being buried to the neck can be deadly because the walls can cave in, trapping an individual.
No Losses Here
It’s all about business for this establishment that is located in a place that experiences tidal waves. Because the entrepreneurs do not want to end up with losses if it happens, they have put a sign on how clients should handle the situation. After remaining calm, the next step they should take is to pay their bills before running for their lives.
Tidal waves are unusually high waves that are triggered by high surface winds or events like earthquakes. Americanoceans.org confirms that they are pretty dangerous, especially if they reach cities close to coasts and beaches because they end up causing severe damage to infrastructure that cannot withstand high winds.
Of Heart-Warming Marriage Proposals
Angela is one lucky lady and the envy of many out there. Her better half went out of their way to organize the best marriage proposal. It is one of the most unique ideas with a gorgeous design on the sand. We hope she said yes fast.
Without a doubt, professional beach art is very charming and romantic. It’s hard to believe someone took their time to create something outstanding in the sand. We hope the couple took as many pictures as possible to remember the moment because it will not last too long. Strong winds or waves can blow off the design in seconds.
Security Measures
Who would steal a pair of worn-out sandals you ask? Well, it seems like this place, which must be close to the beach, is a hotbed for flip-flop thieves. This person had to take drastic measures to safeguard their treasured pair. Still, it wouldn’t prevent anyone who is determined, the lock wouldn’t prevent a slippery thief from walking away with the sandals.
The summer-approved footwear goes by many names but they officially became known as flip-flops in the ‘60s. Folks used the term to describe the clapping noise the sandals made, and the name stuck. The f0otwear is revered much that every third Friday in June is dedicated to celebrating the National Flip-Flop Day.
The Calm Before the Waves
This is one of those perfectly timed snaps that must have earned the photographer or the lady in the photo lots of likes. The best thing about it is how the lady is calmly holding a yoga pose, against the backdrop of the raging waves which are about to engulf her.
Speaking of which, beach yoga is as idyllic as it sounds and comes with plenty of benefits. It enhances creativity, just like performing any other exercise outside. According to Yoga International, the more you tune out by engaging in beach yoga, the more plugged you become into your creative side.
Too Close for Comfort
Ask anyone and they would say that this is a plane about to crash land but that isn’t the case. According to Business Insider’s 2011 article titled “The 10 Most Thrilling Airport Landings,” this plane was photographed while approaching Princess Juliana International Airport.
The Philipsburg, St. Maarten-based airport is one of the Caribbean’s busiest airports, and the kicker is its location next to Maho, Beach. Pilots landing at the airport often have only about 7,000 feet of running room, hence the exceptionally low approach. Whenever a plane lands, beachgoers are treated to the marvelous sight while passengers also get a thrilling experience to write home about.
Pig Beach
It’s not every day that you’ll bump into a pig enjoying a day out at the beach. Most likely, this photo was snapped at Pig Beach in the Bahamas. Believe it or not, such a place exists, and to be precise, Big Mayor Cay is where you can swim with at least a dozen hogs.
The uninhabited island is ten minutes from Staniel Cay which has a population of 110 people. Legend has it that the pigs found their way on the Exum following a shipwreck. Another tale suggests that two farmers moved the hogs to the island in the wake of the anticipated Y2K computer crash in the ‘90s, which never happened.
Say Cheese
It’s hard not to love this photo, and wonder how she got the curious-looking tortoise to “twin pose” for the picture. The tasty treat dangling from its mouth reveals how she might have enticed the reptile. Speaking of which, tortoises are fascinating creatures, starting with how they sniff their surroundings.
The vomeronasal organ, better known as the Jacobson’s organ, is found on the roofs of their mouths, hence why they rely on their throats to smell. Their shells also reveal where they hail from, and tortoises with lighter shells typically originate from warmer countries. Those with the lightest-colored shells have roots in the Sahara Desert.
You Wouldn’t Leave Me Out
The above appears to be a well-thought-of photo that may have taken some time to get right. The photographer must have also taken a couple of shots before landing on the ideal image to post. However, a man in the background wants to be in the frame by all means possible.
To appear as though he was part of these beautiful girls, he even participates in one of the poses of lifting one hand. Perhaps what he needs next is a bikini. He must be a professional photobomber who is an individual who distractingly places themselves in other people’s photos to draw attention even though they are not the star of the pictures.
A Strange Thanks for Chips
The beachgoer may have planned the perfect day in his head, but we do not always get the things we want, do we? Amid protests, his friends buried him in the sand, only leaving part of his head out. They went ahead to throw potato chips around him, attracting seagulls.
The birds were not just there to feast. One had to relieve himself to get enough space for the snacks, sadly leaving behind a shithead. Thankfully his mouth was not open, and his eyes were protected, or he would be running after the colony that can record a flight speed of up to 30mph, according to scientists.
Odd One Out
It's becoming harder for ladies to take flawless beach photos alone as someone is always lurking. It is annoying that the photobombers are never in the right costume. Look at this older man; he looks so out of place it's cringeworthy.
The photo uploaded to Imgur went viral with over a million views. The bikini babes on a California beach planned to pose with their hands on their hips, and interestingly, grandpa at the end of the lineup did not disappoint. The person who took the picture certainly got a good laugh since the ladies had no clue there was an extra person.
Real-life Bojack Horseman
No matter how often we see this image online, it will always remain hilarious. For some reason, the combination of water and sunshine tends to bring out high levels of awkwardness. This guy could not wait for summer to rock his horsehead.
Funny enough, the headgear makes the picture look hot. It may have also been a great idea for the wearer because he is protecting himself from the harsh sun rays. The United States Environmental Protection Agency Explains that too much exposure to the sun, specifically UVB(Ultraviolet) B Rays can cause skin aging, sunburns, snow blindness, and some skin cancers.
What a Man Can Do...
Wow, talk about strong ladies. The gorgeous duo proves that a person does not have to be a bodybuilder to be freakishly strong. The beauties are carrying the lads who look like they spend most of their time in the gym with a smile on their faces showing no signs of struggling.
The lads also seem to be highly impressed with the ladies. It is a rare image that you will not see every day. Bodybuilding as a lifestyle and sport has grown in leaps and bounds over the past decades. Eugen Sandow is one of the records as the legendary man behind modern bodybuilding.
Baby's Day at the Beach
Elephants are among the list of animals you don’t expect to see at the beach too often. This baby elephant proves that no one can resist the allure of the tranquil environment. The world’s largest land animal is yet another interesting creature that makes our planet even more intriguing.
Their trunks are powerhouses, with 150K muscles allowing them to perform various cool tasks. Asian elephants use their trunks to pick up, shell, and blow out nuts before devouring the tasty treat. Their tusks keep growing throughout their lifespan, and the protrusions are in real sense teeth that help with the feeding process.
Fifth Wheeling
This is just sad for the guy in the middle. His coupled-up friends are seriously making out and creating the best memories with their better halves, and he is just there regretting his life decisions. The sweethearts are probably enjoying the summer of love, but it's all about the summer of loneliness for him.
Crossing fingers that this is just a staged funny photo; otherwise, it is just sad because his friends do not seem to consider his feelings. The solo guy is also missing out on the benefits of kissing, like reducing blood pressure, boosting self-esteem, toning facial muscles, and releasing happy hormones.
Here Comes the Bride...
Check out this adorable penguin wedding. A creative mind brought stuffed penguins to the beach to join them in holy matrimony. The groom looks dapper in a tux, and the bride looks gorgeous with a veil. The bridal team did not come to play either.
We can't forget about the guests as well. They look too adorable. It is one ceremony we would love to attend if the penguins would have us. Note that a group of penguins in the water is known as a raft, but we call them a waddle on land. They are also fond of huddling together to protect against predators and retain warmth.
An Eyebrow-raising Flotation Device
The beach is a hub for all types of entertainment. Look at this guy having the time of his life out in the waters. But this is not your ordinary guy. Instead of having a typical floating device, he is with an inflatable doll. But as long as it does the job well, we are not here to judge.
Thinking outside the box, the doll can turn out to be his life partner. Some people are known to marry inflatable dolls. They get away with it because there are no specific laws related to marrying inanimate objects; thus, some individuals go ahead to enjoy marital bliss.
Deadly Photo
A few ladies will do anything to get that perfect shot, even endanger their lives. We are not sure what the young beauty is holding, but it can be a deadly jellyfish. People should not go around touching this type of fish. Some can spread poison in your body after a sting.
Some stings can be harmless, while others can be fatal depending on many variables, including health, type of fish, location of the sting, and how long the venom has been in the body. Symptoms of dangerous stings include muscle cramps, chest pains, excessive sweating, and difficulty breathing. It's advisable to seek medical attention should anyone experience these signs.
At Home on the Beach
Who knew you did not need wood, steel, or other forms of raw material to make a couch? The guy above is a genius. He took his time to make this beautiful sand sofa. He even decorated it and made it super functional for that sweet nap at the beach.
There’s no better feeling than taking a lounge chair and relaxing out on the beach; this guy was resourceful enough. Laying close to the waters is an excellent way of decompressing, especially if a person has had a long and stressful day. We pray that the waves will not come and ruin his creation.
Raccoons Align
We now believe there is a beach out there that attracts all manner of creatures, and this is yet another photo that proves it. The omnivores are opportunistic eaters, and this man appears to have lured them into the water with some tasty bites. Raccoons feed on various meals including nuts, grasshoppers, acorns, and their eggs.
Known as Procyon lotor in Latin, intelligent animals also have good table manners. They often wash their meals before digging in. Even with the absence of water, they still go through the motions of using their paws to dust off their food before eating it.
The Quest for the Perfect Shot
The quest for “Insta-worthy” photos has folks looking crazy out there! Take this guy, for instance, he had no problem crouching down to get the perfect shot. The only issue is those behind him got more than they bargained for, and someone else seized the opportunity to document his absurd actions.
There is no denying that beach photos are among the most breathtaking. Seasoned photographers recommend holding photoshoots during the off-season In winter, the vibe is quite different from what is experienced in summer and beaches tend to be less crowded then. The golden hour, which falls right after sunset, is also an ideal time to host beach photo sessions.
The Buffest Bikini Models
Now, this is one day at the beach most folks won’t forget because their future reference will revolve around “the muscular guys who wore bikinis.” It appears as if they lost a bet of sorts, otherwise, if they chose to set out dressed like this then they are the world’s bravest pair.
If you want to go down a rabbit hole, just Google “bikinis for men.” The Steven Even site describes them as skimpier briefs that are perfect for men who want to embrace new options in their wardrobes. They offer a variety of styles ranging from mid to low-rise waistlines.
Do Not Disturb
This Seal has mastered the art of enjoying a self-care day at the beach. The divider between the Pinniped and humans passes the message, “let the sleeping mammal rest.” It must be quite the sight watching the seal make its way out of the water and plop itself on the lounge chair.
Dubbed the “clowns of the marine world,” seals spend the better part of their days lounging. They often leave their habitats to escape predators, feed, mate, and molt but Pinnipeds can sleep underwater. Some have a reputation for their hooliganism, and a New Zealand-based elephant seal would routinely overturn parked vehicles.
Ponies on the Beach
Much like Pig Beach, there is an island locale between Maryland and Virginia that is a pony haven. Wild horses inhabit Assateague Island located near the Delmarva Peninsula. The 37-mile-long barrier island faces the Atlantic, and the Assateague State Park is found in the Maryland section.
The equines inhabiting the Island are relatively smaller in size, due to environmental conditions. They are one of the area’s highlights as exemplified by these two ponies. One of them decided to enjoy some shade underneath a beach umbrella while the other is catching a snooze. The Island is home to 320 other species including shorebirds, waterbirds, and raptors.
Cats and Water don't Mix
Cat owners know full well that their feline friends and water don’t mix. At least that is according to the age-old saying and the endless list of “cats versus bathtub” videos floating around the internet. Now imagine taking your feline friend to the beach. This picture depicts what you can expect to happen.
Their evolutionary history has a thing to do with why cats don’t, particularly like water. Most felines, whether big or small, have always inhabited dry arid areas. Their keen sense of smell allows them to sniff out the chemicals in water, and they are not too fond of it.
A Beach Foodie and their Grab Shall be Parted
Strolling down the beach while nibbling on something delicious courts disaster. It’s essentially like emitting a signal of sorts welcoming all creatures wandering around the area to take a bite. This perfectly-timed snap captured the moment when a seagull swooped in and stole this lady’s donut.
Gulls can reportedly detect that there’s food somewhere from more than three miles away. It is one of their survival mechanisms, and the sensitive nerve endings on their nostrils allow them to sniff out food in this manner. Fifty seagull species exist, and the most common are the yellow-legged, little gull, and herring gull.
Terror at the Beach
This is the stuff of nightmares if it were a scene from a horror movie. These two goofballs decided to go for this unusual pose to encapsulate their day at their beach. It doesn’t look like the wisest decision, but again, folks have done worse for social media photos.
Anyone who has ever watched Steven Spielberg’s “Jaws” must shudder at the thought of what would happen if a killer shark invaded the beach. These two wouldn’t have the chance, and worse still would be if a tsunami hit the beach. Thoughts of dooms aside, this picture will not leave you with warm and fuzzy feelings.
Everyone is Welcome at the Beach
When they say that there is a place for everything, this photo should be the poster for that statement. Everyone has dressed appropriately, except for the man in the foreground who looks like he scrunched up what he could find for an impromptu stopover at the beach.
Louis Réard is credited for popularizing the two-piece swimsuits that are now a common sight at the beach. In 1946, he unveiled the daring swimwear at the Piscine Molitor in Paris. Although women wore two-piece suits as far back as the ‘30s, those were modest versions comprising of shorts and halter tops that covered the navel.
Relaxing at the Beach
Ask anyone what tops off a great day, and most probably you will hear a resounding response about hanging out at the beach. This guy kicked things up when he decided to relax at the beach. Judging from the tents at the back, folks enjoy spending stretches of days at this beach.
The Europeans take the credit for making the beach a cool place to hang around. In the mid-18th century, wealthy folks took to the outdoors for exercise and they considered the beach the most pleasurable of places to indulge in this activity. During the reign of King George IV, mass consumption of the beach picked up.
A Comical Read
There are plenty of things that you could do at the beach, and perhaps reading a good book is amongst the most productive and satisfying. Take this woman, for instance, she seems to be catching up on what looks like a comically enthralling read.
If the author ever needed to drum up more sales, this photo is perfect for the marketing material. Nature is calming, and beyond making you feel refreshed, it offers the prime spot to get some reading done. The natural light is better than a desk lamp and there is no better stress-busting session than curling up to a great read.
Catching a Frisbee
The beach and Frisbees go hand-in-hand unless you are this lady who caught one right in the face. Speaking of which, the disc-shaped toy dates to 1958 when Wham-O released them on the market. The company is behind 0ther successful toys like the Water Wiggle, Super Ball, and Hula-Hoop.
By 1977, Wham-O had reportedly sold over 100 million Frisbees, and decades later, it remains one of the favorite items to take to the beach. Mattel Toy Manufacturers produce the original Frisbee, after buying ownership of the flying discs in 1994. However, these days, there are about 60 manufacturers who produce the toy.
Say Woof!
Picture this, saying “I do” to your soulmate at an idyllic beach location. You only have one photo to take before the camera loses its juice, or the skies open up. Then this happens! Fido jumps right into the frame and steals your thunder. It’s a welcome photo bomb, and it does make the day even more memorable.
A study found that dogs remember more than we think they do. In the paper "Recall of Others’ Actions after Incidental Encoding in Dogs," published by Current Biology, the findings suggest that our four-legged friends have episodic memories. One hour later, after observing their owner’s actions, they can relive and remember experiences.
When things go wrong at the Beach
Driving to the beach sounds like a great idea, but the last thing you want is to crash into the waves. While some beaches allow you to drive right next to the water, we are sure that common sense should dictate that you park a good distance away from the waves.
It’s also a great idea to get an Off-Road Vehicle for such a trip and to stick to the ORV guidelines, which vary from one beach to the next. The expressions these three guys have on their faces tell it all; they messed up. Imagine the phone call they placed to a tow company explaining how they got themselves in such a pickle!
The Harder they Fall...
Photos of people falling always get a good chuckle out of us, and you are not a terrible person for laughing. You have to wonder what this beachgoer was doing before she took a face plant into the sand. The person who captured this picture is the champion!
The beach is a sunny and happy place, so you wouldn’t think that terrible things happened there. It’s always a great idea to prepare for the unexpected, and sunburns top the list of beach injuries. That is followed by skin cuts, jellyfish stings, sand flea bites, and alcohol poisoning. Also, be careful while running in the sand because like this lady found out, the changing terrain can be unforgiving.
Having a Drink at the Beach
Day drinking at the beach sounds like a great summer plan for most happy-go-lucky folks. Not everyone out rightly embraces the idea, like this girl who looks like it took getting pinned down and having beer poured down her throat. Perhaps it’s a staged photo, none the less, we are sure these two had a great day at the beach.
Most public beaches frown upon drinking for obvious reasons. It has to do with minimizing unruly crowds and reducing the likelihood of unfortunate accidents happening in the water. However, campgrounds in California, most of which are near the beach, allow drinking.
How Many People Do You See in this Photo?
How many people can you see in this photo? If your answer is three, then look again. The lady sunbathing in the background is barely visible until you give the picture another look. She is so pale that the sand almost camouflages her, and if there was anyone who truly needed some sun, it’s her.
Sunburns are listed as the most common beach-related injury. Prevention is better than cure, and when planning a day filled with sun and sand, it’s a good idea to apply some sunscreen. For reference, ultraviolet radiation (UV) is particularly aggressive from around noon to 3 p.m.
