Anne Hathaway
Being a highly acclaimed actress with multiple awards, Anne Hathaway spends a lot of time in the public eye. This means getting draped in designer clothing to appear at movie premiers and award shows. After all, Primetime Emmy Award winners are always expected to look their best.
However, the photo at the right contrasts the stylish, well-groomed look Hathaway is famous for. It seems the person behind the camera was determined to get the worst possible photo of her. But even with the unflattering angle, Hathaway is easily recognizable for her role as Esther Graff in "Armageddon Time."
Mischa Barton
Mischa Barton began her acting career on stage, starring in several Off-Broadway productions like "Slavs!" and "Twelve Dreams." But after making her film debut in "Lawn Dogs," positive reviews of her performance sent her to the top of the ladder landing her roles in commercially successful films like "Notting Hill" and "The Sixth Sense."
It's almost impossible to believe that the woman at the right is the once popular 'It Girl,' who won the "InStyle" Icon of The Year award in 2008. Guess even the best of the best can have some off days. Barton was also a familiar face in the 2020 satire film "Spree."
Beyoncé
Right from when Beyoncé gained popularity as a member of "Destiny's Child," to when she went solo releasing hits like "Crazy in Love," "Irreplaceable," and "Single Ladies," she's always been 'That Girl!' No other person can match her vocal range, meticulous attention to detail, or vibrancy on stage!
This image was taken at Beyoncé's performance at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2013. But once the show ended, the internet was flooded with unflattering images like this. And Beyoncé's attempts to ban their release only backfired. Thankfully, we'd all moved on from the incident by 2022 when she released her seventh studio album, "Renaissance."
Fergie
Who could have thought that Fergie's top-ten hit single "Clumsy" would be a fitting foreshadowing of her daily experiences? Though the song tells the story of a girl who trips and stumbles as she falls in love, this image shows that love is not the only thing that sends her tripping.
Like most female performers, Fergie practically grew up in heels. She's obviously had no problem appearing poised and glamorous at red-carpet events like the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. But it seems having a night on the town is the exception. Luckily, her companion's quick reflexes kept her from falling flat on her face.
Daniel Craig
Daniel Craig has developed an image as an action movie star thanks to his long-running role as an international secret agent in five of the "James Bond" films. He also lent his talents to the fantasy adventure film "The Golden Compass" and the psychological thriller "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."
But let it never be said that actors can be perfect both on screen and in person. We may expect the deceptively cunning detective Benoit Blanc from "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" to act cool, calm, and collected in even the most high-risk situations. However, Craig is not above picking his nose in a public setting.
Salma Hayek
Salma Hayek started out in the Mexican film industry before working her way up to Hollywood. Though tales of her beauty are far from exaggerated, her acting prowess is more renowned. Especially after films like "Frida," "House of Gucci" and the 2021 "Eternals" which marked her entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Like in most of her on-screen portrayals, Hayek made a lasting impression when she was captured in this strange ensemble. She suffered a head injury while filming "Drunk Parents" and was quickly rushed to the hospital. At the time, an outfit change was impossible, but the happy doctors flanking her didn't seem to mind.
Kaley Cuoco
Is there anything as awkward as getting caught mid-laugh? In this photo, Kaley Cuoco appears to be guffawing as she converses with a companion, and we'd all like to be in on the joke. Maybe they were reminiscing over the funny bloopers from "Big Bang Theory."
Between her run on that show and success on "The Flight Attendant," Cuoco has proven her love for acting. She also made it known that she's got the chops to produce a mystery thriller series. Cuoco's performance in "The Man from Toronto" and "Meet Cute" in 2022 helped cement her reputation as a worthwhile talent.
Pamela Anderson
We first met Pamela Anderson in 1989 when she was featured on the Jumbotron at a football game in BC Place Stadium, Vancouver. Her unique appearance got her a job as a spokesmodel for Labatt Brewing Company. She also made it to the cover of Playboy that same year.
Anderson caught international recognition when she joined the cast of "Baywatch," and it remains her best-known role to date. But when she's not on set or making television appearances, Anderson enjoys letting her hair down. She may have taken it too far here, considering she was being escorted out of "Guys & Dolls" in L.A. when this photo was taken.
Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods has got it good on all fronts. He's renowned for his professional golfing skills and has won enough tour events to prove his worth. But Woods isn't ready to hand in his club yet. After all, he played in the opening round of the 2022 PGA Championship, his first play since he suffered a car crash in 2021.
But 2021 wasn't the first time Woods ran out on his luck. In 2015, he showed up at the Phoenix Open golf tournament with a missing tooth. He later revealed it was knocked out while he was celebrating Lindsey Vonn's 63rd victory at Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy.
Tara Palmer-Tomkinson
Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was a renowned socialite who had her finger on the pulse of the daily happenings in the British entertainment world. She made numerous contributions to publications like "The Sunday Times," "Harpers and Queen" and "The Observer." She also finished as runner-up in the 2002 edition of "I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here."
Considering her relatively prominent social ranking, Palmer-Tomkinson is not the kind of lady who would be caught looking disheveled in public. Hence this photo must have taken her unawares. Taking in her simple white blouse and nude pumps, she could have been heading anywhere from a business meeting to brunch.
Emma Stone
Emma Stone is one of the most intriguing personalities in Hollywood. She's also talented and refreshingly honest. So when asked about her raspy voice in an interview, Stone revealed that she non-stop cries as a child may have caused what is now regarded as her most iconic feature.
Stone's acting talents are best appreciated in movies like "La La Land" and "Cruella." The 2022 silent short film "Vlihi" is also worth a mention. But there are times when something stands in the way of such appreciation, like at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival when the wind decided to give her a makeover.
Kate Middleton
Kate Middleton was a dedicated philanthropist long before she became the Duchess of Cambridge. But raising money for worthwhile causes can be challenging and sometimes painful, as she soon learned. This photo was taken at the charity roller disco Middleton hosted in London in 2008.
The 80's themed event was planned to help raise funds for Tom's Ward at the Children's Hospital in Oxford. But when Middleton was doing her best to organize the event, she never imagined that she'd end up taking a tumble before the night was over. She lay there for a few minutes before a friend came to her rescue.
Amanda Seyfried
A big part of being a good actor is being able to convincingly convey the right feelings and emotions. Amanda Seyfried has that talent in spades, so even when she's not reading off a script, she can't help how her face chooses to reflect her internal dialogue.
Take this photo, for example. This is the look of a person who just realized they made the wrong move. And speaking of moves, Seyfriend has made all the right ones since she landed her first acting role in "As the World Turns." But many of her fans got to know her through the 2004 classic teen movie, "Mean Girls."
Julia Roberts
Julia Roberts is the queen of romantic comedies, a fact that's not up for debate. In "Pretty Woman," she went from being a hopeful working girl to dining with the wealthy. Then in "America's Sweethearts," she was a shy nerd caught in a classic love triangle.
Even the 2022 "Ticket to Paradise" was a rom-com well worth the nearly two-hour watch. Hopefully, this explains why many were surprised to see an actor of Roberts' caliber sporting a hairy armpit at the premiere of "Notting Hill" in 1999. Rather than pretend it never happened, though, she kept waving excitedly at the crowd.
Lark Voorhies
Lark Voorhies rose to fame for her role as Lisa Marie Turtle on the NBC sitcom "Saved by the Bell." Her success on that show soon made her a household name, landing her roles in "Days of Our Lives" and "The Bold and the Beautiful," where she played a fashion intern.
Voorhies had already stepped back from the limelight when she made this unexpected appearance at the movie premiere of "Where We Started" in 2014. And one wonders if she forgot to look in the mirror before stepping out that night. Voorhies is also the author of three works including, "True Light" and "Trek of the Cheshire."
Jennifer Lawrence
We know that Jennifer Lawrence is one of the highest-paid actresses in the world. We also know that her portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games" made her the highest-grossing action heroine of all time. It appears we've got one more thing to add to the list—her goofy nature.
As it turns out, Lawrence has a better sense of humor than one would expect of a person of her standing. Even with her numerous career achievements, she knows not to take herself too seriously. Here's one of many faces she made after receiving an award at the 20th SAG Awards in 2014.
Keanu Reeves
"Matrix" may have set Keanu Reeves apart as a skilled actor in the action film genre. But his performance in the 2015 horror film "Constantine" only upped his ranking in the eyes of fans. Then 2014 came, and with it, the assassin John Wick—things were never the same again.
Now that Reeves has garnered recognition for his enviable physique and compelling demeanor, tabloids must be working overtime to find him lacking. This photo was taken in 2013, soon after Reeves made a directorial debut with "Man of Tai Chi." But by 2021, when he appeared in "The Matrix Resurrections," he was back to his old self.
Megan Fox
Megan Fox made this face at Hollywood Life Magazine's 7th Annual Breakthrough of the Year Awards in 2007, so it's probably the one time of the night when she wasn't looking her absolute best. She may have been practicing her tongue-rolling skills, but her eyes tell a different story.
This suggestive photo was taken the same year Fox landed the lead role of Mikaela Banes in the first "Transformers" movie. Her performance in "Jennifer's Body" was also praised as boldly confident, and she's carried that same confidence over the years, even displaying it in the 2022 comedy "Good Mourning."
Kanye West
Kanye West is often described as a genius, and never has that title been more appropriate than in 2021 when his highly anticipated album "Donda" was released. Even before then, he had already carved out a unique spot for himself as one of the best-selling musical artists in the world.
Notice how we're even yet to touch on his foray into fashion? The fact is, Kanye likes to make a statement through his art. So whether he's releasing his next album or designing a new pair of Yeezys, he's sure to get tongues wagging. He must have been very preoccupied on that walk to have unknowingly run into a pole.
Jessica Biel
The problem with getting too accustomed to only seeing stars on the screen is that we soon forget they're also human. It's not all glitz and glamour; sometimes, it's a comfortable, fluffy robe, soft slippers, and a towel on the head. Or should Jessica Biel dress up in finery to throw the trash out?
Biel began her professional career as a vocalist before the acting bug bit her. Once she was cast as Mary Camden in "7th Heaven," the role opened her to many more opportunities. And her portrayal of an '80s housewife in the 2022 biographical drama "Candy" is undeniable proof of her talents.
George Clooney
The ladies love George Clooney, and many men want to be him. It's hard not to see the appeal. He embodies the refined look that sets men apart as gentlemen, and his calm yet deep voice certainly does him a lot of favors. Yet we also have to accept that much of his charm comes from the magic he wields on-screen.
Anyone who's seen Clooney in "From Dusk till Dawn," the "Ocean's Eleven" trilogy, or the 2022 "Ticket to Paradise" can attest to his magnetism. So this scrunched-up, contorted look he seems to be going for here may either impress or disappoint, depending on one's tastes.
Kate Moss
Now we know what Kate Moss looks like when she lets loose and has one too many drinks. She showed up at a Mummy Rocks charity fundraiser in 2010 in an edgy Dolce & Gabbana dress, a blazer, and stilettos. But the blazer probably went flying once she grabbed onto the microphone and gave a hardcore performance to the amusement of all present.
After spending almost three decades in fashion, Moss moved from modeling to owning a clothing brand. So we can all agree that she's risen to the top of the ladder. Still, let no one say that world-renown supermodels don't know how to have fun.
Katherine Heigl
Katherine Heigl is so famous for her role in the ABC medical drama, "Grey's Anatomy," that not many realize she was once a child model. From age nine, she was already posing for magazine photos and appearing in product commercials. Now, though, she's best known as the woman who won a Primetime Emmy Award for playing Dr. Izzie Stevens.
Still, no award could protect Heigl from the wardrobe malfunction she suffered while giving her acceptance speech at the "ShoWest" convention in 2010. But she was able to quickly contain the situation before bravely carrying on. In 2022, Heigl continued with her role in "Firefly Lane."
Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera's impressive four-octave vocal range is one reason why she's fondly described as the "Voice of a Generation." That voice has released singles like "What a Girl Wants," "Can't Hold Us Down," and "Hurt," making her one of the greatest female singers in pop music.
Aguilera performed a cover of "A Million Dreams" at the Dubai Expo 2020 in 2022, leaving the crowd in awe. That was a different response from 2011 when she showed up on stage at the "Michael Forever" concert with matted hair extensions and an ill-fitting outfit. It's almost as if she cared less about her appearance and more about making an impression.
Katie Holmes
Anyone would have a hard time believing that the two people in both photos are one and the same. Yes, that is Katie Holmes at the left, and it's also her at the right. Isn't this how most of us look when we roll out of bed on any given day? No? Okay.
Holmes rose to fame for her role as Joey Potter in "Dawson's Creek." She was also cast in a series of small-scale movies like "Phone Booth," "Pieces of April," and "Dear Dictator." But in 2016, Holmes made her directorial debut with the drama film "All We Had," following that up with the 2022 romantic drama "Alone Together."
Brooklyn Decker
Appearance matters a lot to people in the entertainment industry, and for Brooklyn Decker, who spends most of her time posing behind a camera or taking on acting roles, the stakes are much higher. Perfection may be an elusive dream, but with the right tools, anyone can have some proximity to it.
Decker's dentition is as close to perfection as anything can get, and she intends to keep it that way by never skipping out on dentist appointments. She decided it would be fun to share her teeth-whitening experience with the fans; we're not sure how we feel about it.
Katy Perry
There's nothing inherently goofy about either of these photos. At the left, we have Katy Perry, the famous pop icon and recipient of five Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, and several other accolades. She's also the Perry who inspired double takes in her "Oscar de la Renta" gown at the 2022 Met Gala.
Then, we have the casual, more dialed-back Perry. The one who named her cat Kitty Purry and gave it its own blog, and the one who enjoys listening to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" while driving in the car. The best thing about both versions of Perry is they each slay.
Kelly Osbourne
Kelly Osbourne has been on a journey of self-exploration, trying on different personas and seeing what fits. It's not unlike the style evolution we all experience. The difference is that hers has been well documented since her days on the reality television show "The Osbournes."
Still, being the daughter of the famous Ozzy and Sharon duo provides little escape from the limelight. Osbourne's goth era was marked by distinctive looks like the one at the right. We say remarkable because what other word applies? But by the time she made her "Red Table Talk" appearance in 2022, she'd moved from an alternative to a more elegant style.
Stefanie Scott
Stefanie Scott hit the ground running with her debut role in the 2008 comedy film "Beethoven's Big Break." Though the movie cannot be described as her big break, it did open her up to a supporting role in "Flipped." Soon enough, she went mainstream with "Wreck-it Ralph" before playing Quinn Brenner in the horror film "Insidious: Chapter 3."
Scott received positive reviews for wholeheartedly embracing her role in "The Girl in the Woods," which premiered in 2021. However, we can always look to the past and recall this moment in 2013 when she battled with the wind at Nickelodeon's 26th Kid's Choice Awards.
Julianne Hough
Of all the celebrities who made cameos in the "Harry Potter" film series, the two-time winner of "Dancing with the Stars" Julianne Hough, is probably the most unexpected. Fans may be happy to discover that she appeared as a Hogwart extra in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and was a Gryffindor.
Members of Gryffindor's house are praised for their brave and somewhat reckless nature. Hough was undeniably reckless in attempting this "Blackface" look for Halloween in 2013. Without her effusive apology, who knows if she would have been allowed to host the "75th Tony Awards: Act One" in 2022?
Olivia Munn
Olivia Munn is a former television host who had a recurring role in the drama series "Beyond the Break." She also appeared in "Iron Man 2," "Magic Mike," and the fourth film in the "Predator" lineup. Then in 2022, she played Evie in "Tales of the Walking Dead."
In addition to all we know about her, it appears Munn is very attached to her dogs. And like most dog lovers, she can't fathom the thought of traveling without them. In this photo, she's seen holding one of her pooches while the other does its business on the ground. Is that dog stretching or marking its territory?
Madonna
Madonna has long been revered for her masterful understanding of her craft. She's the queen of reinvention and has created entire music genres out of nothing, laying the path for new-generation artists. But even though her looks take a backburner to her voice, Madonna has always been a stunner.
One drawback of her ever-constant presence in each nook and cranny of the entertainment industry is that many forget that she's been doing this job for a while. And after almost five decades in the industry, we'd say Madonna deserves one or two off days. Even with the bare-faced look, she's still a "Material Girl."
Taylor Swift
In the first pic, Taylor Swift offers a glimpse of midnight delights. In the next, we have her making a funny face at the camera. Just another talented woman who effortlessly balances beauty, wit, and a relatable sense of humor. And in case you missed that hint, "Midnights" is the title of Swift's tenth studio album, which was released in 2022.
Swift is the last person anyone would expect to be out and about with curlers in her hair. But this photo was taken during her younger years when she was still a newbie in the industry. 11 Grammy Awards and several other accolades later, and she's a veteran.
Cameron Diaz
Can we talk about Cameron Diaz without bringing up "Charlie's Angels?" So much time has passed, and her name is still intertwined with her role in that 2000 action comedy film. Still, that's not the only title contributing to Diaz's status as one of the most bankable actresses in the world.
We also can't forget "There's Something About Mary," which earned her her first Golden Globe nomination. Something about the photo at the right suggests that Diaz may not always be at the top of her skincare game. She looked much better in 2022 when she appeared as a guest judge at "Rupaul's Drag Race All Stars."
Jessica Simpson
Popular "I Wanna Love You Forever" crooner Jessica Simpson almost took a tumble one night in 2017 after celebrating her husband Eric Johnson's 38th birthday. And paparazzi were lucky enough to land a clear view of the near-fall as she exited Craig's resto in Los Angeles.
Simpson was only able to escape injury thanks to her husband's quick reflexes and strong grip. So the couple lived to party another day. In 2020, Simpson released the bestselling memoir "Open Book," which sold about 60,000 copies within the first week. She also appeared in the popular animated series "Duncanville" episode in 2022.
Paris Hilton
Before the Kardashians and the Jenners became famous for their reality television shows, Paris Hilton was the talk of the town. As the granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, founder of the famous "Hilton Hotels," she had her pick of careers. So she decided to make a name for herself in entertainment.
From modeling to reality TV and on to business, Hilton had no trouble finding success in all her endeavors. But though she became famous for her hit series "The Simple Life," which featured her childhood friend, Nicole Richie, her life was far from simple. As this photo shows, Hilton liked to party with the best of them.
Pete Wentz
Pete Wentz owns writing credits to many songs the rock band Fall out Boy released since 2001. In addition to his role as a lyricist, he also plays the bass. And just like his band name, Wentz appears to have tripped over his feet in this photo. What a fall, what an outfit.
Wentz has been active on the music scene since the early '90, so he must know his onions. He is the co-founder of "DCD2 Records," which has signed bands like Gym Class Heroes and Panic! At the Disco. He also owns the New York bar "Angels & Kings," which sounds like a haven for hardcore rockers.
Emma Watson
Emma Watson overcame the curse of the child star by refusing to allow the fame of her "Harry Potter" days to overwhelm her. She's also one of the most vocal advocates for women's rights in the movie world. And in 2022, she showed off her brand new pixie cut at the Prada Paradoxe Fragrance Launch Party in London.
That brings to mind her appearance at the opening night of "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince" in 2009. The heavens opened up that night, and unfortunately, Watson was caught in the downpour. She suffered this minor wardrobe malfunction as she hoisted her drenched dress to the side to move freely.
Rihanna
It's always fun to ponder what goes through celebrities' heads when they make faces like this. This one of Rihanna's was captured sometime in 2012 when she hit New York to film an "SNL" skit, and it's almost like she'd just heard something particularly unbelievable.
Since 2016, when Rihanna went on her "Anti World Tour," fans hoped and prayed for her to release some new music. But she was so busy building up her "FENTY" brand that she put making a studio visit on the back burner. Still, in 2022, news of Rihanna headlining the Super Bowl LVII halftime show had fans in a frenzy.
Britney Spears
Britney Spears is another famous entertainer who helped shape the American music industry. At 17, she released her debut album, "Baby One More Time," following it up with "Oops! I Did It Again" in 2000. Both albums earned Spears the title of the best-selling teenager of all time.
That best-selling teenager grew up to release more chart-topping albums, including "Circus," "Femme Fatale," and "Glory." But she didn't always have an easy time coping with the fame. Things finally took a turn for the better in 2021 when her conservatorship was terminated, and in 2022, Spears partnered with Elton John to release "Hold Me Closer."
Mel Gibson
Many believe Mel Gibson's charisma and brisk accent are all that make him extremely likable as a Hollywood actor. And others claim he had such good chemistry with Danny Glover in the "Lethal Weapon" movies that it set the tone for all his other works.
Anyone who thinks Gibson was good in that action comedy series would have more to say about his performance since then. Gibson appeared in the 2022 crime thriller "Bandit," and he certainly looks the part in this photo. Everything from the wide-legged pose to the effortlessly ruffled shirt and the cigar in his mouth oozes confident masculinity, even if he looks a tad confused.
Gigi Hadid
Models like Gigi Hadid have a reputation to uphold. It's simply not enough to see her strut confidently down the runway at the 2023 Versace Spring/Summer show during Milan Fashion Week. She also needs to maintain that same poise and arrogant elegance while going about her regular business.
This photo shows that she clearly understood the assignment. Not a fan of ripped jeans? This pair is an exception. And the pop of yellow on her feet helps offset the drab greys of her tank top and jacket. The image would be perfect if only she didn't have a foot in what seems to be dog pee.
Heather Locklear
Paparazzi had a field day capturing this photo of Heather Locklear as she was out running errands. And fans expressed some alarm over her harried look. We think it's normal for anyone to get red in the face with the harsh sun beating over them and the weight of their to-do list hanging over their head, but what do we know?
Locklear rose to fame for her role as Amanda Woodward on "Melrose Place," which earned her four consecutive Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress. She also gained recognition for her long-term friendship with Aaron Spelling as it birthed several successful collaborations, including "Dynasty."
Prince William And Kate
Many people have an outdated idea of what behavior is appropriate for the British ruling class members, so photos like this help remind us that the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cambridge were once happy-go-lucky teenagers. And if there's one thing we can count on most teens to do, it's a party like there's no tomorrow.
The image at the right was taken from a clip that went viral on TikTok in 2022. Though Prince William and Kate Middleton look inebriated and a little worse for wear, the latter still looks as elegant as she did when she showed up for the 10th anniversary of Coach Core in 2022.
Cara Delevingne
Cara Delevingne once confessed that she treats the lens like a person when she gazes into it. And her ability to create a wide array of animated facial expressions should be ranked as a useful skill, right there with her acting and modeling.
When Delevingne showed up at the Stella McCartney show during Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Spring/Summer 2014, she had a job to do—walk the runway. But once the job was done, she couldn't resist making faces at the camera. She put some of her facial expressions to good use while starring in the 2022 series "Only Murders in the Building."
