Celebs Before and After Photoshop – Master

Katy Perry

The blue eyes, flawless skin, and captivating vocals have kept Katy Perry relevant in the entertainment industry for a hot minute. Although, her fairy-tale princess-smooth skin is the work of some digital magic here. As seen on the left, one would notice the slight texture has completely vanished in the final image.

With hits like Unconditionally, I Kissed A Girl, and many more, Katy's fans could never know dissatisfaction. While age hasn't caught up just yet on the celebrity sweetheart, it wouldn't hurt to keep her looking even younger and fresher in pictures with a little help from Photoshop.

Nina Garcia

Based on these side by side images of fashion journalist Nina Garcia, it’s easy to guess which is the actual versus the ‘cleaned up’ version. The latter one may give off the perfect Barbie doll aesthetic, but anyone would agree that the raw picture is by far a better look for the Project Runway judge, to say the least.

For someone well into her fifties, Garcia has aged gracefully and certainly has no need for photoshopped snapshots. Adding some sparkly effects and some makeup does not paint a prettier picture – it only makes everything unrealistic for sure!

Madonna

Anyone who doesn't know of Madonna most probably lives under a stone. Famously known as the Queen of Pop, the singer is one of the most successful female musicians of all time, and she remains the highest-grossing solo artist in music history, with concert ticket sales of over $1.4 billion.

The venerated performer has revolutionized pop culture and has set trends for her fans' legion, both in music and in fashion. She always moves away from the norm, and it is no wonder she has a considerable influence worldwide. The actress invariably looks stunning, and she doesn't need any Photoshop skills to make her look better!

Miranda Kerr

It may sound surprising to some, but Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr also allegedly edited her Instagram pictures once in a while. Believe it or not, the supermodel posted this picture of herself, along with fellow Angels Alessandra Ambrosio and Doutzen Kroes, evidently thinner – but the Kora Organics CEO claimed she had no idea it was photoshopped.

The shared image drew flack mostly from commentators, considering how toned Kerr already was and how she is supposed to be a role model for teens. At this rate, one can be sure she’d be more careful about what pictures to post next time!

Megan Fox

One could only dream of having perfect skin, but not everyone is blessed with such – even for famous actresses like Megan Fox. But no matter her skin condition, Fox has no qualms in posing in front of the camera confidently, which is why the photographers love to capture her image on film!

One paparazzo probably thought he was doing the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen star a favor by clearing her face of any unwanted lumps and bumps, but the highly retouched second image looked much worse than the original one. They might as well follow Fox’s suit and welcome aging with open arms!

Eva Mendez

Eva Mendez is known to be one of the hottest Latinas in the entire film industry, but even her breathtaking beauty couldn’t forego the inevitable touch of photoshop. In this Cosmopolitan cover, a young Mendez was airbrushed to the point of having her defined cheekbones removed.

But critique aside, we feel the Girl in Progress actress probably appreciated how the photo editor took the time to remove the dark circles under her eyes and other traces of imperfections on her forehead. Mendez didn’t need that that much retouching since she already looked great nonetheless, but the overall result made her look extra fresh!

Lady Gaga

Avant-garde photoshoots have become Lady Gaga’s signature style throughout the years, so posing for a magazine like Vogue should come as no big deal! But for this special anniversary issue, the fashion mavens went too far with all the editing, and the Telephone songstress’ physique became almost cartoon-like based on the final picture’s proportions.

Aside from tweaking the color of the stunning Marc Jacobs gown, Lady Gaga resembled a perfect statue from head to toe with her trimmed waistline. But despite the heavy editing, she didn’t complain about it - in fact, the pop star loved her bold cover photo and tweeted her seal of approval!

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston was undeniably the darling of the nineties, and even if it’s been decades since she played Rachel Green in Friends, folks can’t seem to separate her from the award-winning show! And it’s probably because of how Aniston has maintained a flawless face throughout the years – although, the photo editor in this shot apparently didn’t think so.

In true Tinseltown fashion, the photo retoucher used too much blur effect that Aniston’s ravishing skin looked virtually poreless and unnatural. Thankfully, this wasn’t anything over the top as the actress wouldn’t be too happy to smile for them next time.

Zendaya

Zendaya has steadily made her way through the limelight thanks to her stint as Rocky Blue in the hit Disney show Shake It Up. Since then, she has appeared in several other gigs, and fans have grown to love her wit and candor! The young actress wasn’t afraid to show off her assertive side either, more so after seeing this horrendous photo that was edited extensively.

As it turned out, a publication called Modeliste Magazine was responsible for the mishap, but thankfully they heeded Zendaya’s call to have the image replaced in the issue. As someone who advocates for natural beauty, Zendaya loves everything about her body – curves and all!

Lady Gaga

Love her or hate her, but Lady Gaga isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. People just can’t get enough of Mother Monster, which is why she’s often seen in numerous print ad campaigns such as this one. Right off the bat, it seems nothing drastic was made in the images, apart from some color retouching, but we all know that’s to be expected, especially for magazine pictures.

Despite the photoshop, one can’t help but admire how there’s barely any difference from the original photo to the edited version. It goes to show that the Bad Romance singer doesn’t require much to let her real beauty shine through!

Meghan Trainor

If there’s one musical act who embraced her curves like no other, it’s Meghan Trainor. It’s no wonder she was once dubbed as a ‘model of self-acceptance for kids across the world’ by Billboard magazine! But many people, her fans included, were aghast when they saw her brand-new music video for Me Too. Reason being? Her body was noticeably edited to look slimmer!

As expected, Trainor was rightfully shocked and demanded the video be taken down from posting immediately. Hopefully, that would be the last time a fiasco of the sort would happen ever again.

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone is undoubtedly the epitome of eccentricity as she refuses to age like normal people and still has clear and glowing skin. If you ask us, she looks nearly 25 years younger and can easily replace many young aspiring actresses. Well, it seems that Sharon is quite serious about her skincare. The first picture seems fine to us, yes, there are some age lines, but despite that, she looks stunning.

However, we think that the photographer did not like those lines on her face. So, he decided to make her even younger and perfect.

Leighton Meester

This picture was taken when Leighton Meester made her red-carpet appearance with a simple look, and we have to say that she still remains an ultimate head-turner. But the photographer decided to do the makeup for her. Leighton’s traditional and natural beauty is traded for a more red-carpet-ready look!

Best known for her role in Gossip Girl, Leighton rose to international fame at a very young age. Over her two-decades-long career, the immensely talented actress has worked in numerous film and television projects. As we all know, she likes to keep her looks and makeup minimal, so we wonder what she had to say about this.

Sharon Stone

Who in their right mind would believe that Sharon Stone is already in her sixties? Well, that is because she does not look like it on her magazine covers. Besides, we are sure that half of the population would be willing to pay hefty amounts to look half as gorgeous as Sharon. Anyone with a decent eye could easily notice the beauty in her.

If you look closely at the image, you’ll realize that Sharon has truly aged like a fine wine, but the photographer went a little further by removing the age lines. Either way, our love for her remains the same.

Britney Spears

Whenever we look at the gorgeous Britney Spears on magazine covers and other promotional campaigns, we all wish that we had a perfect body and skin like her. But as you can see in these photos, celebrities are not as flawless as we happen to think. If you ask us, even without photoshop, we would still love Britney for her timeless beauty and soulful voice.

She is undoubtedly among the most famous pop singers and indeed among the most recognized faces worldwide. Perhaps, that is why the editor decided to only slim down her waist!

Kim Kardashian

Even though Kim Kardashian is virtually every woman's body goal, the influencer remains human, graced with cellulite and folds on her body. Photoshop edits, like waist-slimming and smoothening out the uneven texture of her thighs in the comparison picture, further keep the celebrity socialite on brand.

The business mogul, fashion icon, and all-around celebrity has the world swooning after her curves. Over time, Kim has proven that she is much more talented as a businesswoman, but it is clear her ravishing appearance had been a significant selling point for years.

Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani is arguably one of the most affluent singers in the world, which is a status she has rightfully earned ever since she first started shining with the band No Doubt. With her face all over prints, screens, and billboards for years, almost no description does justice to her talent.

However, even a celebrity like her needs a little help from digital wizards sometimes. Although one can see the slight differences between the edited and untouched photos, it's plain to see that Gwen doesn't need a lot of assistance to look magical!

Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne rose to international stardom in her teenage years and has had a fair amount of media coverage in her successful career. Without a doubt, the Canadian performer consistently appears in countless magazine covers, as a testament to her fame.

Although the Pop Punk Queen looked stunning in the original photo—with a youthful appearance for her age—the Cosmopolitan Magazine decided that she needed a little touchup. With Avril's fine lines minimized and skin color evened out, she ended up looking younger for the magazine cover, having her beauty enhanced.

Kris Jenner And Gordon Ramsay

Anyone could get starstruck in the presence of their favorite Hollywood personality, even celebrities! In the case of Kris Jenner, she couldn’t contain her excitement as she posed next to Michelin-star chef Gordon Ramsay with her new cookbook in tow.

From the looks of it, Jenner hoped to share the special opportunity with her social media followers; but that plan turned south when fans quickly pointed out how the reality star obviously tinkered with the image using filters – with a heavy hand at that! Too bad for her, Ramsay shared the unedited picture in his own Twitter account and revealed Jenner’s wrinkly ruse. Perhaps, the famous chef just loved his frown lines!

Kate Winslet

The main actress of the 1997 film, Titanic, has graced the movie screens for years on end. Kate Winslet is loved for her charisma, impeccable talent, and stunning features that show through in all the roles she has taken on.

A sheer feel with a soft touch enhanced Kate's stunning skin, baby blue eyes, and luscious lips in the picture on the right even more. With lots of awards to her name, brand endorsements, and promises of big-screen appearances in the years to come, one can always expect to see her shine—with digital editing or without.

Rihanna

One glance at renowned Barbadian pop songstress Rihanna and it’s easy to see why the world fell in love with her ethereal-like beauty. Paired with her unwavering talent for singing and dancing, the Umbrella hitmaker looked every inch of a goddess in whatever red-carpet event she attends – and this one was no different!

However, it’s interesting to note how the photographers still found it necessary to edit her gorgeous looks. In this case, they decided to lower her hairline and make her forehead appear shorter; it’s quite a shame since those are the features that make Rihanna stand out from the rest.

Beyoncé

We don't think there is anyone who has influenced modern music like Beyoncé has. The singer has released numerous critically acclaimed albums, which have brought her unrivaled success, making her the most nominated woman in Grammy Awards history, and has the second-most wins, with 24 trophies under her belt.

As such, Beyoncé is the subject of many publications and fans, with some of her followers trying out their photo editing skills. While some do a great job of making the star look flawless, others, like in this case, fail terribly, and the end product looks a tad overdone.

Justin Bieber

Sometimes, photographers and other creatives use the editing tools to make an image look more appealing, and in this case, we must say, whoever did this, nailed it. Justin Bieber has never looked more charming than he does in the commercial, and we bet the company's campaign was successful.

Bieber, who has achieved massive success since releasing his first album in 2010, has risen to become among the most outstanding young male musicians of all time, with several awards, including several Grammy Awards under his belt. With his celebrity status, we can be sure to see more of his images making rounds online.

Britney Spears

Widely regarded as the Princess of Pop, Britney Spears rose to fame in the late 90s, credited with the revival of teen pop. The singer has several top-selling records, two of which even became best-selling albums of all time.

As a teen idol, Britney's social and private life is a thing of public interest, with her images often used in several campaigns and magazines. While she looks a tad different, we commend the Photoshop artist for the excellent job he has done in making sure the Princess looks both charming and original.

Kim Cattrall

In the right hands, Photoshop can be a tool for excellent photo enhancement, improving the natural beauty that we all have. In this case, Kim Cattrall looks younger than ever, but still beautiful and charming, like while she was in the critically acclaimed movie Split Second.

The actress has achieved massive success in the film industry, appearing in numerous movies and television series since her debut in 1975. The work pressures haven't taken a toll on her, as she still amazes us with her incredible performances, most recently in the TV show Filthy Rich.

Candice Huffine

In a world where every image posted online must be flawless, sometimes the edits are overdone, leaving an image looking a bit worse than the original. For Candice Huffine, we bet she is used to getting all her photos airbrushed since she is an acclaimed fashion model.

While the second image looks good, it doesn't look as realistic as the first one, which, frankly, is more authentic and appealing. We don't know if Candice has ever seen this picture, but we hope that she gets better retouching done, mostly because she is a strong advocate for body positivity among women.

Madonna

We are still digesting the fact that the pop queen is well over her sixties! In a career spanning almost four decades, she managed to shape up the entire pop scene like none other. Along the way, the gorgeous woman also ended up redefining the celebrity fashion scene.

Now that Madonna has left her best years behind her, we end up seeing many websites and magazines attempting to tinker with the images to bring perfection. But what they fail to understand is the fact that her raw beauty and energy are what made her a star in the first place!

Angelina Jolie

Widely considered one of the most influential people in the film business, Angelina Jolie is a legendary actress, famous for her award-winning performances in Girl Interrupted and Salt. The activist has featured in over fifty movies since her debut in 1982, and she doesn't look like slowing down anytime soon.

While being in the limelight comes with its perks, all the attention goes into how one looks and how they're dressed. Jolie, however, has set an incredible beauty standard without having her image retouched on Photoshop. The actress has been named the most beautiful woman in the world a couple of times, and it is easy to see why.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears has been proving her mettle time and again ever since she became a teen sensation! Nearing the forty mark can be a little tough on the artists - that is when problems of age and competition catch up. While she managed to ward off the competitors with her amazing voice, there wasn’t much that could be done with the freckles.

So the folks at Marie Clare magazine chose to get creative and made her look flawless with the magic of Photoshop. Lo and behold, our Britney now has a slender face and wavier hair!

Cindy Crawford

During the 80s and 90s, Cindy Crawford stole many hearts with her films and appearances in magazines like Cosmopolitan, Vogue, and Allure. While the determined star didn’t give up even after turning fifty, age did make life difficult for the Fair Game actress.

When this picture of her photoshopped body surfaced on the internet, many were quick to point out how old she had become. Much to the relief of her fans, it turned out that the before-picture was a fake one. It was confirmed by Crawford’s numerous other stills that she indeed rocks a truly flawless figure!

Penelope Cruz

We feel that, at times, Photoshop is used just because it is available! Take this picture of Penelope Cruz, for instance - the Spanish beauty seems so stunning for her age that we can probably label her as an immortal. Yet, they found the need to remove her crow’s feet and even out her skin tone!

While we are fixated on the changes, Cruz is probably too busy to notice these. By signing up for at least three films every year, the Pirates of the Caribbean actress continues to keep herself occupied like a twenty-something star!

Katy Perry

Let's play spot the differences with the cover girl of Rolling Stones - Katy Perry! Apart from those air-brushed abs, slenderer legs, and the modified fingers, there aren't any major alterations to the original picture. The Roar singer would probably agree with us when we say that even those changes seem completely unnecessary!

It shows the impact of good lighting and how the correct angles can magically transform the picture. Had the lighting part been taken care of during the shoot, Rolling Stones could have saved a lot of money in Photoshop costs.

Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley is a brilliant actress and an outspoken person who can give a piece of her mind to anyone with a regressive mindset. In that vein, she became one of the earliest stars to speak out against the Photoshop culture that prevails in show business.

This came at a time when her promotional poster for her 2004 film, King Arthur, was photoshopped to make her body look curvy. Besides this, the graphic artists even gave her a different skin tone, and these changes ultimately didn’t go well with Knightley.

Faith Hill

Country music fans can rejoice because we have Faith Hill here! Besides being a gorgeous woman, with five Grammys, fifteen ACMs, and six AMAs, she is supremely talented too. With the fifties dawning upon her, it is easy to assume that she took the help of Photoshop to make herself look better, but astonishingly, this picture was clicked way back in 2007.

Hill posed with her trademark smile for what was a pretty standard cover picture of Redbook magazine. But the editors chose to tweak it by making her face and body skinnier and touching up her skin. We believe that a serial perfectionist was behind all of this!

Jennifer Lawrence

We know that this might not go well with everyone, but it is indeed true that Jennifer Lawrence was also photoshopped at one point. The star posed for Flare’s cover in 2011 only to see her waist get reduced and face chiseled to achieve clinical perfection.

After playing formidable roles like Mystique in the X-Men films and Tiffany in Silver Linings Playbook, the actress became an inspiration to millions across the world. So the editorial folks at the magazine probably wanted to show the best version of Jennifer to her followers!

Lindsay Lohan

They might be stars, but work-life is no cakewalk for them too! Erratic schedules, sleepless nights, and long work hours- they endure it all, and it ultimately shows on their face. It is just what happened with Lindsay Lohan, who has been a part of the showbiz since her teenage years. Unsurprisingly, the last resort for all such issues turns out to be an editing software - Photoshop!

In this case, we have to admit that the shoddy editing makes it look like an Instagram face filter. We hope it didn’t make it to the cover of any magazine!

Miley Cyrus

If someone gave us a penny for every time a photo editor botches up a Photoshop job, we could make enough money to buy the company that makes the software! Over here, Miley Cyrus’s figure has become curvier, and on the other hand, the nose has been made to look extremely slender.

We don’t know what is more perplexing - airbrushed cheekbones or an edited background without any legible text in it. In fact, the changes seem so trivial that we actually feel like naming the edited picture of Cyrus as Hannah Montana!

Miranda Kerr

The moment someone mentions Victoria’s Secret Angels, the first name that comes to our mind is Miranda Kerr. After all, the Australian has been among the most successful models of our generation. Despite her stature, she gained a reputation for being the one who doesn’t shy away from going barefaced for big-ticket events.

When Kerr was on the red carpet for a launch event, many photographers swarmed around her to get a good snap. And some of those media persons felt that she didn’t have enough makeup on, so they decided to do the honors by means of Photoshop!

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart probably spent many hours on a Miami beach or with a spray tan to get that perfect skin tone, only to see an editor make her pale using the power of Photoshop. What’s even bizarre is the fact that the person chose to shut the Twilight actress’s lips!

Given the fact that so many changes were made, the Photoshop expert probably could have ‘put a smile on her face.’ Nevertheless, that’s way too many edits for someone who has a reputation of being among the most beautiful of stars!

Fergie

Having started her musical career as a child in the television series Kids Incorporated, Fergie later joined the Black Eyed Peas group, through which she found fame. Aside from the group, the singer has had a successful solo career, too, with her Double Duchess album receiving critical acclaim.

With all that success comes attention, and Fergie’s no stranger to that. The artist has been featured in numerous publications, and the photographers involved have done a great job of capturing her image in the best way possible. The editing skills in this image are quite good, too; overall, the before and after pictures are the true reflection of who Fergie is.
